ABOUT
Kesariya

Rajasthan's unique beauty has been a source of inspiration for centuries of writers, painters, and tourists. Its architecture, folk culture, hospitality, food, music, and art are all timeless, as is the wide desert. In the shape of a restaurant, Kesariya has managed to recreate the amazing charm of the area.

In order to restore lost features of 150-year-old havelis from Shekhawati, a region renowned for its intricate construction, it has set aside contemporary aesthetics and taken a step back in time.

The decor is enough proof of that. A colour palette that stays true to the traditions of Shekhawati, antique columns, jharokhas, door and window panels, sourced directly from the region, walls adorned with beautiful and unusual paintings of Shekhwati, ceilings decorated with traditional drawings, flooring designed especially for the restaurant, and of course the gorgeous silver crockery that will make you feel like royalty—all of it put together takes you a couple of hundred years back, right in the middle of a haveli where decadent food and bonhomie will make you forget the present, albeit for a brief period. All you have to bring is your appetite.

About
Siddharth Goenka

Born and brought up in Bangalore, Siddharth Goenka is an entrepreneur at heart.

After completing two prosperous firms, he quickly focused on his lifelong passion for cuisine. The choice was straightforward: he wanted to bring Shekhawat food to Bangalore in order to honor a group that is very important to him as well as to reproduce the city's renowned Shekhawati haveli culture.

After receiving his education in Bangalore and the UK, Siddharth frequently returned to Rajasthan for work, staying in a haveli that had belonged to his grandparents and was at least a century old. "I often tell my family that I live in the shadows of my ancestors," states Siddharth.

Siddharth asserts that although Shekhawati's haveli culture may not be at its most illustrious today, its rich customs are still being upheld. In order to make room for Kesariya, a Shekhawat restaurant, Siddharth sought to introduce this heritage and aspects of Haveli culture to Bangalore.

All he can hope for is that Bangaloreans will come to appreciate this Rajasthani food.
